jackson and i have been sleeping often. sometimes all day even. we slept out on the balcony for the first time the other day. i'm glad that i found violeta niebla's photographs because they're perfect for the mood i'm in right now.
tonight i will take pictures in the dark and we'll see how that goes. this song is making me sleepy and have dreams while i'm awake...hmmm.

1. i remember the first day you wore a dress and i wondered if you did that often.
2. it wasn't too long ago that i dreamt that i fell backwards into a pond, with the young trout and bread crumbs from grandpa's dinner.
3. we drove out tonight, further than before, into my memory as a little child, painted a solid pink and flecked with white by a moon that drew a circle in one of your eyes.

i'm researching a lot of plants/plant anatomy and botanical drawings lately and i really like these two images from the book the anatomy of plants with an idea of a philosophical history of plants by nehemiah grew (1682). i want this book in my hands!

these two things to remember at a later date, when i've forgotten: i hate a lot of words. cassy only wants a dog with three legs.

i keep revisiting the work of "image-creator" maria grossman lately. she creates scenes that are so elegant and full of personality. i want to jump into each of her bodies of work and explore the scenes that she creates. her use of intricate textiles is so incredible. it might be my favorite element of her work alongside the engrossing storytelling quality of each of her photographs. these images are some of her non-food work, from the series recycling, magnolia, bauten, and lucky symbols, respectively.

please help me grow a summer book list! suggestions would be greatly appreciated, via any internet-technology OR, even better, letter.

i'm trying to be less internet-involved and get my feet in some soil this summer (which begins today for me). i am working on some new personal projects that i think i may share once in a while, if i can get my act together and figure out how to work my scanner. in that event, i will *hopefully* make time to upload some of my work from the past semester so certain-someones will believe me that i actually do go to school and make "stuff".

i think this book list should also keep me pretty tied up, as well as four (maybe five) weddings, two summer courses, a newly built cottage at the lake, friends returning home, farm visits, and copious amounts of antique market trips, among other things.
